Kids Have Plenty of Enthusiasm. What They Need is Direction.

Pradagi-Foundation, NFP was founded to help shape the lives of misdirected youth into productive, successful members of the community through understanding the medium of music.

It's Not All About Looking Good and Being Bad

Everyone wants to hit it big in music. What many people - kids and adults alike - don't recognize is that music is a business like any other. There is an entire industry backing the front-line performers, an industry that offers plenty of exciting opportunities for youth who may otherwise be lost to the frustrations and challenges they face daily. When they can see this clearly, the obstacles to success fall away.

Under Drew Hines's direction, Pradagi-Foundation, NFP conducts a variety of workshops and trainings for youth that focus on marketing and distribution, lawyers and lyrics, royalties and technology, and culture and audience impact. In addition to workshops, Pradagi provides numerous internship opportunities for their aspiring entertainment executives.

How it All Began

In August 2006 disc jockey Tom Joyner recognized Drew Hines - a single father of three - as a "real father, real man," and awarded him $1,000. Hines founded Pradagi-Foundation, NFP just weeks later.
"That's how I got Pradagi up and running," said Hines. "I received a check from the hardest working man in radio. I believe every child is a prodigy. What they need is good support to bring out what's already there."

The Mission of Pradagi-Foundation, NFP

To promote growth and create career opportunities for today's urban youth through enlightenment and education about the business behind popular music. To separate the violence and lascivious activities that contribute to cultural demise from the music to which it is often associated. We do this by educating youth about such aspects of the music industry as technology, marketing, promotions, sales and legal contractual agreements - every facet of the commercial music industry. During this process, students gain perspective on the music business as a positive and uplifting aspect of artists' success.

"Many young people see the products but not the process. They don't know anything about the lawyers, the contracts, the protocols or even the technology. Too many of them think this scene is all about looking good or sounding good. That's not the beginning or the end of this game." - Drew Hines
